Our Policies

Payment: Email Money Transfer, VISA, MasterCard, cash are accepted. VISA or MasterCard is required to make a reservation.

Check-in and Check-out: Check time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out must be prior to 10:00 a.m.

Before you leave:

– Strip sheets from used beds.
– Close and lock all doors and windows
– Ensure thermostats are turned down to 5
– Remove garbage and place in outside garbage cans
– Turn on dishwasher

 

Parking: There is ample parking in the front of the retreat. Please do not block the driveway to the back of the house.

Pets: Sorry, no pets are allowed at the retreat.

Shoes off please: Please use the back door into the mud room. Removing and storing shoes in the mud room will help keep our floors in good shape.

Telephone: Cellular phones frequently do not work in Port Renfrew. Local calls are free, but you will be charged for any outgoing long distance calls. Guests may use a calling cards to make long distance calls. Incoming calls from outside the local area are long distance.

Internet: Internet is available all year round.

Heating: The gas fireplace will heat the living area nicely. Keeping thermometers in the bedrooms to 10-15 degrees is comfortable for sleeping. Please ensure that you turn the heat and fireplace off when you leave.

Smoking: Smoking is permitted outside the retreat. Please place butts in provided containers.

Cleaning Fish: Please clean your fish at the marina and not at the retreat. We would like to minimize smell and maximize safety from bears and other animals.

BBQ and Crab Cooker: Please use both items in their designated areas and do not use on either of the front decks. Crab is to be cooked outside only. Clean the BBQ racks and crab cooker after use and ensure that the gas is turned off.

Fire Pit: Extra wood is available at $10 per bundle. It is collected, using the honor system, in the cash box in the mud room. Please ensure that the fire is out before going to bed or leaving the premises.

Recycle and Garbage: Please bag all garbage and place empty recyclable beverage containers in the recycle bin provided.

Quiet Time: Please be respectful of our other guests and neighbors by minimizing noise and not using the laundry facilities after 11 PM.

Responsibility for Personal Effects and Damages: Angler’s Retreat is not responsible for your lost, stolen, or forgotten items. You are responsible for any damage to the premises and/or furnishings during your stay and will be charged accordingly.

Driving from Victoria

  • Take Highway #1 out of Victoria
  • Drive 5km then take the Sooke exit
  • Take Veterans Memorial Parkway for 4km and turn right on Highway #14 (Westcoast Road)
  • Continue on Highway #14 (25 minutes to Sooke, 1.5 hours to Port Renfrew)
  • Turn right on Klannanith Drive
  • Angler's Retreat (6651 Klannanith Drive) is on your right

Driving from Duncan

  • Take Highway #1 north
  • Turn left on Lake Cowichan (Highway #18) to Lake Cowichan
  • Continue through Lake Cowichan to Mesachie Lake
  • Watch for the sign for the road to Port Renfrew
  • Take this road directly to Port Renfrew (1.5 hours)
  • Turn right on Boat Ramp Road
  • Turn left on Klannanith Drive
  • Angler's Retreat (6651 Klannanith Drive) is on your left
